After two years of college and jumping from Pre-med to English, I was required to take a Marketing 101 class at University of Massachusetts at Lowell. Within the first 10 minutes of class, I had an epiphany: “This is what I was meant to do.” Immediately following that first class, I walked into the Dean’s office and changed my major, and I have never looked back. I spent a good portion of my career on the client side working in the footwear industry for companies like Saucony, Sperry Top~Sider, Keds, and KangaROOS, to name a few. Later, I went on to start a small branding agency of my own before coming to Aloft Group. Aloft’s brand philosophy and client focus was similar to mine, and it is what made me want to join this team.
When I’m not working on clients’ strategic plans, I can often be found performing in a couple of bands or producing a singer-songwriter concert series on Cape Ann. Additionally, I am board member on the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce and also volunteer much of my time to community organizations and causes.
Brand strategy and your personal, professional strategy are quite similar: determine what you do well, how you do it better than anyone else and communicate it in a clear and understandable way that makes people want to choose you. Your reputation can be your greatest asset.
